For tourists who have already visited the more frequented coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, spending a few days in Mazatlán on the Pacific coast is an excellent way to see a little more of Mexico’s beaches and diverse landscapes.

Mazatlán is one of Mexico’s bigger tourist destinations at the Pacific coast and is known as the shrimp capital of the world. Mazatlán is divided into four main parts: the old colonial city center, which is still typical Mexican and authentic, the town itself, and the beach sections Zona Dorada, north of Mazatlán, and Isla de la Piedra, south of Mazatlán’s ferry terminal. Visit the colonial towns and villages surrounding the city of Mazatlán, the lush jungles of the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountain range and of course its beautiful beaches. Mazatlán doesn’t have many night clubs and dancings like Acapulco or Cancun, but with its many cozy town bars and open air beach bars it has a great night life for sure.

In the old and new center of town you can find a lot of guesthouses, small hotels and some beachfront hotels at the boulevard. The bigger all-inclusive resorts are located just outside the center, in the Zona Dorada.
